Hitting Fairway Woods Off the Deck

Hitting fairway woods is easy especially for players with a naturally shallow golf swing. Fairway woods are excellent go to choices off the tee instead of hitting driver in certain situations. Hitting a fairway wood off of the tee is similar to hitting the driver off of a tee. The obvious benefit of teeing off with a fairway wood is that it is an easier club to control than the driver. When you must find the fairway from the tee box, go to the 3 or 5 wood for accuracy. When driving with a fairway wood, the only thing needed to do is to tee the ball considerably lower than when hitting driver. Swing through the ball just like you were hitting driver and expect a high flying and accurate drive.

Hitting from the fairway
Hitting a ball with a fairway wood from the fairway should be one of the easiest strokes there is in golf. Fairway woods are designed to hit the ball off of the deck which makes them easier to hit than irons.

The key to successfully hitting fairway woods is to sweep the ball off of the grass. The clubhead should bottom out at the bottom of the swing and clip the grass and make level contact with the ball to send it on its way.

To that, make a shallower swing. A swing that is too steep will drive into the ground, probably behind the ball causing a fat shot and one with insufficient distance. Stay level and still through the swing and trust the club to hit the ball. If you can do that, hitting consistent fairway woods with plenty of distance will be easy.
