How to Keep Your Drives in the Fairway

Standing on the tee box with the driver in hand for many means swinging big. The urge to hit it long with the driver often causes a plethora of mishits and many missed fairways.

Instead of swing hard with the driver, swing smoothly through the shot to find the fairway more often.

Set up as usual but choke down on the shaft a bit to gain more control over the club. Make a 3/4 backswing and swing into a full finish. Choking down with a shorter, compact swing makes the driver easier to control and increases the odds of hitting it straighter and putting the ball in the fairway.

So, when you cannot afford to miss the fairway, choke down and make a less than full backswing.
